Biography
Madeline has been studying music for a number of years and is a competent cellist and an outstanding pianist. She has developed many important skills through regularly performing and acting as an accompanist.
She has been a keen and reliable accompanist for many years and has supported students in examinations such as A-level Music recitals. Madeline has performed in a variety of prestigious venues, including The Royal Albert Hall.
Madeline is deeply interested in community music and has volunteered at a centre for Adults with Learning Disabilities helping to teach music workshops for the past six years. This involves interacting with Adults with Learning Disabilities and helping run different workshops for groups of up to twenty. The types of workshops have included; drumming, singing and teaching a variety of instruments. Although Madeline predominantly volunteers in Kent she has volunteered within this field in a couple of locations around Yorkshire. She has additionally volunteered in music workshops with young children. Madeline has shown a natural flare for helping with the organising within these workshops.
Madeline has proved herself to be a popular teacher of music. Since arriving in Leeds she has taught a number of students the basics of music theory and solo piano.
Madeline is currently studying BA Music (Hons) at Leeds College of Music and is about to complete her second year. Although she predominantly focuses on solo piano she is in a number of unusual ensembles and performs a wide variety of styles. She is currently part of in an Indian Classical music ensemble consisting of; classical guitar, drum-kit, trumpet, flute, electric guitar, voice and piano. She has developed a diversity of skills through this ensemble, it is important to interact with the other musicians, whilst learning the Indian Classical Music tradition. Madeline is additionally a pianist in a Percussion quartet - 'Ivory Vibes'. It is an ensemble consisting of two percussionists and two pianists. They were selected out of many applicants to perform and record a piece that they performed in an examination for Leeds College of Music CD. The piece of music that they recorded was 'If We Dance', composed by Dr Damien Harron, a lecturer at Leeds College of Music.
Madeline is currently studying a diverse range of solo piano music. Her repertoire consists of Debussy, Chopin and Haydn. She also is keen to perform more modern work by composers such as Bernstein and other contemporary composers. Her principal study teacher at Leeds College of Music is Helen Reid.
In Leeds, Madeline has developed a range of skills throughout the music scene. Including helping with different aspects of live rock music, and starting her own Classical Music night at another venue in Leeds. A Crowd of Fully Grown Children is based around encouraging Classical Musicians to perform out of context, which has become increasingly popular.
Madeline's future plans are to continue working with her ensemble 'Ivory Vibes' and perform regularly. She is planning on re-locating to Brighton in 2011 to study a M.A in Music at Sussex University, whilst doing this she is keen to continue with her community music and classical music night.

Classical Music Night - A Crowd of Fully Grown Children
Madeline is a particularly talented and keen events organiser and has recently started a night for Classical Musicians. It has been extremely successful, as the musicians are encouraged to get up and play. It is in the style of an open mic night and is relaxed and informal so people who do not perform regularly are able to.
